Quick Sumamry & Emma's Vocabulary

Okay at this point I am really far behind. I wish that I could be like my good friend, Maren who posts something new about her kids and family almost everyday. I can only aspire to that right now. If it is any consolation, I write blogs in my head several times a day.

We spent Christmas in Austin with much of my family and it was wonderful to be with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Some day there will even be photos to share.

Emma is potty aware. That is she knows when she is going to poop and announces it. Just this morning I tried sitting her on the potty to see if she would poop there, but no. It wasn't quite that imminent. She has, however, successfully peed in the potty just a few times between home and daycare. Both girls have grown, too. I measured them this morning. Since December 20th, Lorelei has grown half an inch and Emma has grown a full inch. Right now the girls are just about ten pounds and nine inches apart.

Now on to Emma's vocabulary. I think that Emma started talking a bit later than Lorelei, but that is what the experts say to expect with subsequent children. But, wow, has she taken off! I now believe that she has a larger comprehensible vocabulary than Lorelei did at her age (just now 16 months). So last night I started making a list. That I will share with you all. I swear she is popping out a new word a day.

agua (water), ma[s] (more), no, si (yes), no quiero (I don't want), quiero bajar (I want down), leche (milk), bebe(a) (baby), [ba]nana, por favor, gracias, hola, chau chau (bye), mami(a), papi(a), Lorelei, pan (bread), zapato (shoe), ya 'sta (done, finished, no more), Cheerio, cheese (picture taking experiences I guess), Obay (friend's name), Natan (other friend), peek-a-boo, pee pee, poo poo, ten (take), donde esta (where is...), sucio (dirty).

Emma, like her sister, loves to sing and dance. They both of them love to twirl until they fall down and repeat ten times over. Emma particularly likes all of the Happy Birthday songs (English & Spanish). She also signs only three things; more, finished and airplane.

Next time they see each other, they should be able to have a litle conversation.
