My experience in working with the landscape designer has been absolutely everything that I wanted. She was able to take all the things that I told her I wanted and the style that we want to nudge our house toward and she put it together in a magnificent way. Here is a photo of a rendering of the backyard design. It is not one hundred percent what we want - a few minor dimensional changes and we aren't sold on putting in a pool - but in general this is it. Of course this is also many years away kind of a plan, but now we know what we are working toward so we can be as smart and organized as possible in the realization process.

For now, we are starting with phase one of what may be a 12 step and 10 year process, the deck itself- naked of furnishings. The deck has three distinct areas; cooking, dining and living. The main portions of the deck (cooking and living) will be raised two feet off the ground and the dining area will be raised an additional foot. The work will commence next week and by the time I return from Iowa, it should be done! Yeah.
