The good news is that the electrical work finally got done and the cable is safely and beautifully buried in the yard rather than stretching across it. The bad news is that it took darn near the entire day for the electricians to get it done - and that meant no electricity hence, no air conditioning. The ongoing thunderstorms and lightning certainly did not help move the process along. At one point one of the electricians was under the house in the crawl space, presumably doing something work related, and he got stuck there for a while with the lightning all around. I don't know if the crawl space is actually safer than running for a covered house or the playhouse (where the other electrician was seeking refuge), but I assume this is not their first time being caught working in Miami with a storm.
So the bad news is that we were running around doing not so necessary errands just trying to stay occupied and in air conditioning ( I have mentioned the muggy part of Miami summer, right?) and that mean running right through nap time. We did visit the library and that was a good stop. Lorelei and Emma again went crazy picking books off the shelves, and honestly if it weren't for the fact that I know the work involved in reshelving, I would want to let them pull even more. Fortunately we weren't so rushed this time (I had more change for the meter) so we were able to read some books and leave them there.
We also learned that the library has a motivational summer reading program. For each 2 hours of reading that a child does - alone or with another person - they can fill out a ticket that goes into a big lottery at the end of the summer. The girls were so excited that they spent at least 20 minutes filling out their little tickets last night. Here is Sabrina filling out her information - and yes even she can enter to win things like Duplo blocks and books.
