Day 21 Happy Birthday America!

Yes, there is great irony in the statistic that 76% of people recently polled didn't know why they were celebrating July 4th and/or couldn't pin down the year of the Declaration of Independence. So we are trying to make sure that the girls have at least a basic level understanding of what the day celebrates - and they have a pretty good grasp on birthday celebrations! So we celebrated birthday style with a BBQ and lots of time in the pool thanks to J2.

Patriotic cake and ice cream...

 ...followed by a bomb pop! And then on to fireworks. Emma wanted to go home after the very first one. I don't understand how it is that the child who doesn't hear properly was so insanely unable to stand the noise. There must be something to the way she experiences it that is worse. The vibrations or something?
